Gapyeong Rail Bike, an Afternoon Over the Bukhan River

An hour or so on the Gyeongchun line from Seoul, and the rail bike ticket office sits right outside Gapyeong Station. I had braced for Children's Day crowds, but the first afternoon slot I had booked turned out surprisingly quiet.

The course

The track follows the old Gyeongchun line out over the Bukhan River. The pedaling is lighter than it looks, and the river wind changes temperature with every tunnel. Where Jara Island comes into view, everyone seems to stop pedaling at once and linger.
